Dr. Miriam Posner to visit TAMU September 17

The Initiative for Digital Humanities, Media and Culture and the University Libraries are proud to sponsor a visit by Dr. Miriam Posner, on Wednesday, September 17.

Please join us for two public events:

Liberal Arts and Humanities (LAAH) Building, Room 326
The Digital Humanities Working Group will host an informal discussion with Dr. Posner, focused on alternative academic careers in digital humanities.

1:30-3PM
Liberal Arts and Humanities (LAAH) Building, Room 453
Dr. Posner will deliver a talk on "A Thousand Little Failures (And Some Successes, Too): Lessons on DH Community-Building from a Big Public U."

Dr. Posner holds a Ph.D. in Film Studies and American Studies from Yale University; she is the Digital Humanities program coordinator and a member of the core DH faculty at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her research interests include the conjunction of digital humanities and the academic library; and the history of technology, particularly the history of medical imaging. She explores the latter in Depth Perception: Narrative and the Body in American Medical Filmmaking, her forthcoming book from the University of North Carolina Press. Dr. Posner previously held a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Emory University Library's Digital Scholarship Commons. She maintains a highly influential blog at miriamposner.com/blog.
